Being Cool

It wasn't my intent.  While I've followed the hype over the past months, I was "happy enough" with my Razr. In general, I'm not a "gadget guy," and I generally avoid 1.0 products. But....

Tolles gives me a call Friday afternoon. We're supposed to get together in downtown Palo Alto, but he redirects me to El Camino and Page Mill. The Cingular Wireless store. He's buying an iPhone. We're there at 5:30 and the store opens at 6:00. And, getting through the line is going to be an hour and a half. So, what do we do? We start talking to the people around us. Keith Teare is there -- I've been meaning to catch up to Keith. And David Hornik is there. I've known of David but I've never met him.   6:00PM  rolls around and the "peer pressure" builds -- why am I in line? Oh, to meet with Chris. On the other hand, I figured I might as well get a new phone (the Razr sucks -- I've been in denial that it is "good enough"). All in all, it was a pretty good afternoon. Met with Chris, caught up with a few people, and got a new cool toy. I mean a phone. (I'm not going to blog my impressions on the iPhone -- I'm sure it's all been said!)
